The Stratton Edge Youth Centre has just completed a five week Graffiti Project Upgrade.

City of Swan

We were only able to do this with the help of the City of Swan, What Say Youth Grant and Graffix Grants.

These grants totalled $5000, which covered all expenses.

Graffiti workshops and first steps

Over the first four weeks there were five graffiti art workshops. Our young people were able to hone their artistic abilities and perfect their spray painting skills. The designs were then taken to The City of Swan and approved.

Paint day!

Paint day happened on Sunday 11th December. Six of our young people who had attended the workshops were able to paint their designs on the Skate Park with the help of four graffiti artists. The day went really well.

The project was staffed by two Rise youth workers Skye and Leslie who run the youth centre. They were the sunscreen and icy pole runners on the day, keeping the young people hydrated and sun safe!

A work of art

The skate part is important for our young people because it is a place where they spend a lot of time. They have had their own input into the aesthetics, and can be proud to show off to the community.
