Safe tattoo messages at Youth Week event
Young people learnt about safe tattoos at a Youth Week event.
National Youth Week 2017 ran from 31 March to 9 April. Hundreds of events were held across the state to celebrate the annual event.
Rise had a stall at the Yarn Action Group’s event on Friday 7th April. It was held at YMCA Leederville headquarters.
Youth Program Activities Coordinator Skye Groenveld said a range of Perth youth services offered activities.
There was a hip hop battle, graffiti art, tie dye shirts, dream catcher making, free sausage sizzle and lots of free giveaways. Skye said:
We had a great time spraying on tattoos, and talking about some of the dangers of unsafe tattoos like Hepatitis C. We were empowering young people to make safe and smart choices when/if they decide to ever get a tattoo.
