Rise staff value WACOSS conference 2018 learnings
Rise was proud to be a community sponsor at the recent WA Council of Social Services (WACOSS) 2018 conference, with staff getting great value from the two-day conference.
WACOSS conference 2018
WACOSS holds a yearly conference to discuss trends and improvements in the social services sector. The conference was held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre last week.
This year the theme was Making Place. Over two days, various guests speakers addressed the topic, which is about
People making a difference
Leveraging the opportunities
Aspiring to a better world
Connecting with others, and
Enacting bold initiatives together that create the places we can thrive in.
Rise was please to be a community sponsor for the conference. We also had a stand where we had some great conversations with people about what we do!
Our staff ran an activity asking people to tell us what ‘Making Place’ means to them. We got some very interesting answers! They included:
- a picture of a house
- “belonging and connecting”
- “a community that lives in harmony”
Our staff helped to man the booth during session breaks. Rise Regional Manager Suzanna Robertson said she had really enjoyed the conference.
The speakers have generously shared their knowledge and experience. It’s provided really useful learning and been a terrific networking opportunity.
