Local Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders are welcome at Moorditj Mia for yarning and getting together with their mob in a friendly, informal setting.
We celebrate stories and people, and offer support through friendship. Many members have discovered or re-kindled a love of art and their work has been celebrated in exhibitions and displays. The members have also participated in art projects at local schools and use their art to convey stories of their lives and history.
The members of the group participate in activities for health benefits such as attending the Derbarl Yerrigan Heart Health group and attending the visiting Moorditj Djena podiatry and diabetes education bus.
We link into celebrations of Aboriginal culture such as NAIDOC and welcome new members to come and join us.
Members are picked up by bus from home and enjoy a morning tea and a cooked lunch at the centre.
