Thanks to a Rise volunteer Hadrian Fuller, a group of young people with disability have been participating in making a film over the last four months at Peter Anderton, one of Rise’s social centres.
The group participated in various workshops on aspects of film making including acting and mask making. They then developed and acted in their own short film dealing with looking for a long lost friend.
They even created their own music track for the film.
Hadrian, who has his own media business, visited the centre on a weekly basis and filmed the whole process.
I’ve been blown away by their enthusiasm and talent. They drove the whole project – I was just there to help
When we visited to see the process, we walked into a music session that had our toes tapping. This group knows how to have fun!
The project is coming to an end soon and Rise Youth Program Planner at Peter Anderton, Zoe Wood, is keen to launch the film by holding a screening for families and friends.
If anyone can offer a venue with a big screen, please get in touch.
We may even need to rustle up a red carpet!
