Smart pens are an assistive technology device that assists people with dyslexia and intellectual disabilities to read material they might not otherwise be able to read.
Melissa has been keen to order a smart pen to assist her with her reading. When she brought this up with the art room the other week, Lynne, one of our other members, explained how she has one and asked Melissa if she would like to have a go. Melissa tested out the pen and was amazed by its ability to read her back the words. She has ordered her own one and is eagerly awaiting its arrival.
It is fantastic to see how this kind of technology can give individuals more independence and assistance with day to day activities, like reading a menu or a document.
